An Efficient Communication between the patient and a Physician

Generally whenever we don’t feel well we need to consult a physician, who may be a family doctor or a General physician. Every patient may have different types of health related problems or suffering from some symptom which has to be diagnosed. Moreover we need to be sure that the communication is clear between the patient and the physician.

However, the way of communications differs from physician to physician and from patient to patient.

The measures to be taken for efficient communication between patient & physician:

  • The patient should be very clear while explaining the symptoms or the problems to the physician.
  • Make sure that the doctor is attentive, listening to you & also understanding what exactly what your problem is.
  • The patient should not feel obligated to ask questions & clarifications.
  • On the other hand the physician required to concentrate on the patient’s problem.
  • By knowing the Information about the patient’s family, spouse, children, and employment, work-related issues to know the patients metal condition or daily routine activities gives good understanding to the physician.
  • Whenever the patient is unhappy, or uncomfortable with the race of the doctor, it’s better to discuss about the discomfort with the physician.
  • Even at times the physician may feel uncomfortable with some patients who are not able to understand or don’t have any knowledge about the treatment & put lots of questions, in such cases take extra care to explain them within their knowledge.

Better Communication is the key to improved patient and physician satisfaction.
